For beginners, a basic hand building clay class. Focus will be on learning forming techniques and creating functional pieces. Note: if the first week of a five week session is missed participant “will be removed from the class roster.”

Class Size: 10 Come knit and chat with your fellow colleagues as they work on projects on their own. This is not instructor led, participants work on their own. 

Using color wool roving, we will be needle felting on a base fabric to create fiber paintings. Most supplies will be provided.

6 weeks This class is for those participants who have very little to no experience in working with clay. We will explore a variety of techniques to create and finish your art piece. This class is for those participants who have very little to no experience in working with clay. We will explore a variety of techniques to create and finish your art piece. Using polymer clay, we will make heads/arms/legs for a fantasy creature, human or humanoid. After baking these in the oven, we will paint the facial features. Apertures will be made for these and then we will clothe them. Sewing is not necessary. Supplies will be provided.

We will cover the fundamentals of oil painting such as color, composition and values as well as the use of tools such as Palette Knives, Brushes and Mediums to create glazes and translucent passages of color. This is a studio class designed for those who are not able to participate in the Painting from Life classes. Bring a sketch book and pen to each class as well as 3 canvases not to exceed 12 x 16 inches. All other materials will be provided.

Learn to paint using watercolors as a medium.

The student should be able to center clay on the wheel with minimum difficulty and have strong working knowledge of throwing clay on the wheel. Note: This is not an instructor led class, you will be working on your own during studio hours. If you have pain in hands, elbow, shoulder, or weakness in arms or back this may not be an ideal option for you.
